I am a Manchester, UK, based portrait and waterscape painter.

Since graduating from Central Saint Martins (2008) with a 2:1 degree in Fine Art I have redirected my practice. After a year spent travelling through Asia and the Pacific, my work has evolved from emotive portraiture to landscapes and waterscapes. My enthusiasm for painting and photographing water has recently received interest from the surfing community around the world and I am continuing to draw and paint seascapes to fill the demand for such work.

My practice initially involved making work about process and replication, using portraiture, drawing and painting as the beginnings of my work. While I am making quite commercial work at the moment it is still in the back of my mind that I am interested in making intense, thought-provoking work and will return to making such work in the future.

The experiences that arise from a piece of work are important to me and I know that an artwork is finished when the appropriate experience is gained from it. I think that this is something I always aim for, no matter what the subject matter of my work is.

I am using my central Manchester studio space to experiment with new ways of working, new subject matter and to gain experience from working in an artists' community.
